I recently went to my Jr PROM. But unfortunately my legs were hurting so i couldn't dance. My Prom was on a Friday, Saturday i didn't get out of bed because the pain had gotten worse and Sunday i was in the hospital. After a week in the hospital, i spent a week out or the hospital, then my back and chest started hurting. I spent a week hospitalized again and 3 days after i had been discharged i had a fever and my whole body was hurting. While i was hospitalized THAT TIME i was diagnosed with blood clots. Can anyone point out what i did wrong? That has NEVER happened to me before..

u did nothing wrong
but maybe the trigger to the crisis was the stress from the Jr. Prom
could be weather or a lot of things
you body is changing too so with Sickle Cell always accept that anything can happen at any time
I hope u r well now and stay strong
Ciao
You didn't do anything wrong. Clots happen when the sickle cell clump up and don't dissolve---and this happens pretty often, that's what causes the pain. A DVT occurs when the clots are in the legs or limbs...and cannot be controlled. It wasn't ur fault...unless you are on some sort of birth control (like OrthoEvra which can lead to clots).

Hydrate, take your meds and get well. This too will pass.
