I'm 37 and have sickle cell beta thalessmia, I lift weight 3 times a week and I was wondering what's the pain that I get in my knee? I'm rarely sick and eat healthy.

hey Mike, knee pain is pretty normal so to say for pple with sickle cell, especially with any kind of working out, i get them too even when i dont workout, its part of joint pains, usually just take advil or aleeve to help with it. I would say ease up on the amount of weights maybe and if it persist, see your doctor about it.

Thanks, do you think maybe my iron levels are high which has is why this is happening? Also, since kle cell bets thalessmia, is it a mils trait or the full sickle cell? I'm very healthy for my and never had a blood transfusion so it's weird to have this pain on my knee now at 37.

it could be iron, but you wont know til u get tested for it. its not really either SCD or the trait, but u could call it a trait since it usually doesn't cause problems depending if u have thalessmia minor or major, although u can still become quite anemic from it. I would recommend u see a hematologist and perhaps read up on this:

all the best

I get crisis in my knee as well, I also work out, But been getting this knee pain for a while.

My doctor recommended Vitamin D to help with my knee pain and aches.

Mini crises.  I get them when at the gym.  Keep your workout regimen, though.
