People asking you for your medication

I have had problems throughout my life where people in my life have come to me and asked for some of my medication. In most cases there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, they want it for recreational purposes. This is very frustrating to me because it makes me feel like they don't care about me or my illness. If I give them all of my medication then what am I suppose to do when I have a crisis and really need it? We all know that if we go to our doctors too soon and ask for a refill before the refill is due then we will be deemed a drug abuser. We already get a bad rap with medical professionals as it is without adding flame to the fire. I have even been approched by individuals wanting to sell my medication. This is beyond henious. It's bad enough that I have to take such strong narcotics because of my illness without someone approaching me and wanting to use my medication for unhealthy reasons. I tell anyone that if you don't have to take this medication, please don't because it ruins your liver and kidneys. I am so afraid of this happening to me. Has anyone else ever had to deal with this type of situation? Just curious.

I have the same exact issue. I've learned not to take anything with acteminophen or howev it's spelled. I take 30mg immediate & extended release morphine. It doesn't have any of the stuff in it that damages our livers. They make it like it's our fault if our Iron is high, mine being 5,000. If they would just tell us up front that we have other options medication wise we'll be better off. Hydrocodone, Vicodin etc are very high in the things that damage our liver. There is no coming back from liver failure. Hope this helps!!

Absolutely. I totally understand. I had one roommate when I was in grad school that took a few of my pills and thought I didn't notice, then later was offering to buy some off me. People like that really frustrate me! I hate having to take oxycontin, delaudid and all these other painkillers for crises, and here are these people who are perfectly healthy, taking them for fun. I could never understand. Pain meds made me nauseous and so "out of it"...I hate that feeling, so I couldn't imagine there being anything fun about taking them when not in pain.
