Folic Acid!

Stay away from Iron tablets because we are more prone to having iron toxicity. Sickle cell patients tend to have higher amounts of Iron than the usual population because our sickle cells break down (every 10-12 days) versus regular RBCs that break down every 90-120 days. So you already have iron in your body...DO NOT TAKE ANY EXTRA!

Please just take Folic acid...and eat lots of green, leafy vegetables like spinach and kale. Carrots and fresh carrot juice (juiced yourself) and beets also help to improve Hgb levels. Let me know if you have any other questions.
