How does having Sickle Cell affect your Social & Dating life????

Posted on December 6, 2012 at 8:00pm 6 Comments

Hola Everyone,

I was just wondering how your social and dating lives are affected by sickle cell???

I rarely meet people who can relate to what I'm going through. Dating is a no go b/c people never understand why I'm in the hospital so much, why I go to bed early, why I take daily naps. It gets to be too much and I realize that no one will ever understand what I go through unless…

Hey Guys,

Just a little news on what I have learned about meds, Pain meds especially. As patients we feel as though our doctors will tell us everything and have our best interest at heart. I learned through trial & error that it's not always true. For years I've taken Tylenol with Codeine, Hydrocodone, Percocet... You name it I've prob taken it. Point is these medications damage…

I'm beyond late. Haven't been on since the last post. I want u guys to know that despite sickle cell, speak postive no matter what. I've had AVN for 5 yrs & no hip replacement. It can get painful though. I'm Still dancing & in the gym. Been having flare ups every month so I'm always In the hospital but I trust God has plans for my life. I Have Sickle cell, it doesn't have me. Last not least do u guys have infusion centers in your city/state?

I love dancing, but i easily get tired and feel faint in just 30secs of making some moves! SCD is a killjoy.

I also have another question for you. Did you ever get the feeling back in your face from the crisis? Its been almost a year for me and the feeling has still not returned to my lower face.

I love to dance and I’ve always wanted to take kickboxing how do you do it? I don’t go dancing and when I dance at home I can’t dance too much because of my AVN. My school offers kickboxing and I’ve always wanted to get into it but I feel it will just strain my AVN any suggestion because I would love to take up Kickboxing if I could.
