Medical marijuana or prescription drugs?

Which pain reliever would you prefer...medical marijuana or prescription pills that destroys the body?

Great question. I would prefer neither...but I'm finicky like that. If I'm going herbal, I would just stick to Nicosan, and not have to deal with daily pain. I don't like being in pain, but I don't like not being at my best mentally either.

I had a friend on MJ, but apparently, you have to be high pretty much most of the time to cover sickle cell pain. It's an interesting question...would love to see how others answer this.
I understand...I use to be on those oxyies, and it was destroying my body. I decided to take medical marijuana to decrease the amount of pills I took. I was up to like 10 pills a day; but after the weed, it dropped to like 2 pills a day. The weed keeps my body relaxed (away from stress), but if ur having a crisis it won't hardly do anything for the pain. People don't understand how strong these pains get. It is also better to eat the medical marijuana in a form of a brownie or tea to get that bodily high vs smoking it getting a head high. U probably won't understand what I'm talking about, but there's 2 types of highs. Like you said it would take alot of weed smoking to cover the sickle cell pain. So that's why people like Montell Willams eats it mostly. The key to me is...keep the body relaxed, eat healthy, take natural meds. It is best to stay away from prescription pills as much as possible.
this topic is always interesting, marijuana, which i am just going to refer to as weed, for spelling purposes, lol hasn't really worked for me, it actually tends to trigger my pains and crisis, however i do have a friend who smoke it and it helps her, so i think it really depends on the person and how much of it you use.
U right...it seems like we all have the same disease, but different meds work differently for each individual or maybe it could be some stuff works for SC and some stuff works for SS. I started taking nitro oxide pills which opens the walls of the arteries, so that the cells can flow through with ease. It works really good. I mean as soon as I take it I feel this rush of energy going through my body. The pains aren't that severe when I take it. They say our bodies lack nitro oxide, so that pill is wonderful. I take it with this water called Rejuvin. They call it the water of life. It actually hydrates ur cells better than regular water. In regular bottled water it doesn't have all the natural energy it needs to hydrate the cells. They say the best water is from the stream when it's actually spinning and twirling. It develops a energy force in the water to hydrate the cells, but most bottle water looses it's energy causing it to be almost like regular tap water. I know it sounds weird, but do some research on it. And keeping ur immune system up is the key. It's a must that we eat healthy to fight this disease. The immune sysytem is the engine in our bodies. We must take care of the engine or the vehicle/temple won't operate correctly. I seen a lady beat cancer by going green with her food. She cut out all the meats and junk food. Also with the help of God of course she was able to conquer cancer. If taking care of the immune system did that for her, it can do wonders for us too. I truly believe if we eat healthy and keep our bodies relaxed we can cure ourselves. Somehow the sickled cells will reverse back into normal cells.
I hate having to take pain meds and meds in general. If all i had to take was a daily vitamin, I'd be the happiest person on Earth. But I have to pick prescription drugs. I don't want my lips to turn purple. And, I will be working in the medical arena...so recreational drugs aren't an option for those of us who will be working 9 to 5's or who have moral issues regarding it like myself. However, I don't judge, and if it works for you then cool. It ain't for me. I'll stick with my oxycodone when needed. Not to mention, insurance doesn't cover the cost of MJ in most cases. That's some street pharm and I hate coming out of my pocket for meds as it is. One time I had to shell out over $300 for a 10 day supply of Oxycontin at Walgreens because my insurance had lapsed. Well, lets just say I can't see wasting my money on MJ.
**To the OP, where do you get nitric oxide pills from? If I'm correct they aren't FDA approved in the US for SCD treatment yet, but i would love to try it.
I don't have a script for pain meds...

Yeah, where do you get the nitro oxide pills?
Nitro oxide...follow this link to the bottom of the page http://www.health-reports.com/sicklecell.html

I never use to smoke or drink but one of my friends suggested trying it. I now have a prescription for medical MJ, it helps me relax and not stress and helps me sleep at night as well. Sometime it intensifies my crisis and sometime it help take the edge off. I would half to agree it really depends on the person. I have crisis almost every day. Most are small and I can deal but sometime the pain is just way too much that I can’t even get out of bed. I use to smoke all everyday to help keep me relaxed and pain free but my tolerance got to high for the stuff. As well as my SCD has taken a turn for the worst this year that I’m trying everything I can think of to keep my health up. NO drinking, smoking if I can help it and eating right. I’m trying to get off a lot of the meds I’m on because I have RA as well as SCD and the med conflict with each other and I feel that they are doing more harm than good. I am currently on 13 different meds and it drives me crazy. I want to start building a family soon so I’m trying to find alternatives to meds, MJ and other things you’re not supposed to do when you’re pregnant. It’s hard for me because being in pain all the time gets hard to tear yourself away from things that help, but I HATE meds and I don’t want to us MJ for pain.
