Does anyone here get into weird crazy posotions when in pain .and Dressing to impress to go to the ER

I ball up and use props to get into the wildest crazy positions to get comfortable when in pain
....sometime the position looks crazy or looks like it can hurt but i get comfort from being all balled up in knots ..is this the same for us all.

I know this will sound crazy and im ashamed i do it
Also i have been poorly treated by ERs so no matter how much im hurting when i go in i try to dress my best so they wont sterotype me and think im a junky drug seeking
i hate that i have to do this.

Hey..you are not alone...I do the whole lying in knots thing. I will have a pillow on my lower back, one between my legs, laying on my side in semi-fetal position with a twisted torso, no pillow under my head. Or sometimes I put pillows all around me. Others might think it's weird, but I derive some sort of comfort from controlling the environment, making the room very hot, and balling up under the covers.

Re: poor ER treatment...gosh! Show me a sickle cell warrior who hasn't been treated poorly in the ER .,...there isn't one. I have had horrible experiences, sometimes even in the hospital that I work as a nurse. Sometimes, I feel like I don't even wanna go to the hospital, because I don't have emotional reserves to deal with the ridicule and blatant disregard. Grrrrr!
Excellent ER Treatment:

I went to the ER just a few days ago and it was one of the best experiences I had. From the time I turned in my triage paper to when I was actually triaged was less than 10 min (shortest time ever). Although the ER was busy that day the only wait I had until I was taken back was for the nurse to find a wheel chair so I didn't have to walk. The doctors and nurses were very courteous and respectful to me and my husband. At one point I refused pain meds b/c they had just given me some and less than 20 minutes later wanted to give me more coupled w/ benadryl which knocks me out plus oral pain meds. They were able to control the pain and I went home that night. Usually I'm admitted for at least 3-5 days. It was a minor crisis that came on the tail end of being sick for the previous 2 wks from swimming 15 min. I was sick of being sick at home so I went in.
I am the queen of crazy pain position! Ive even hung upside doe from my bed before when i have back pain.

But as for the ER thing I used to do that just to look decent but sometimes I just dont care and cant fade gettin dressed.Maybe because Im still young. If it was a 5star hospital they SHOULD not JUDGE YOU FROM THE WAY UR DRESSED, however we know thats not always the issue
