My new book, Jaundice, a collection of poetry will be read at the Bowery Poetry Club on September 12 from 4 to 5: 30 P.M. Several of my poems focus on how I learned to live with Sickle Cell Anemia.

She spokes all the words a sickle cell patients can relate to,everything we wanted to say but did not say & she put it all together and made a beautiful poem! I'm like speechless right now!

She spoke for me. I second Shukura's comment. SCD should be on many tv shows. The tv show ER did it justice in it's last season. I want to see our struggle with hearing a doctor tell us it is not safe to conceive, I want to see our struggle about hearing an employer tell us you are not being promoted because of your frequent absences. I want to see our struggle with suitors that stop calling after they find out that you have SCD.
