Need encouragement to not give up, This was my blast

Hey PLWSC,

Just wanted to share. I changed the first thing I typed after joining the group. Felt so defeated when I came to this site. I was failing and could not see a resolution. I had been sick.. again (not..again). And was pretty mad at the world, because frankly, it did not work into my praticulum of projects and had going. What do you do?

Enough about me, let's talk about the successful people I have found as members on the site! Giving advice, sharing with one another. I really felt understood. I had been hard on myself, for not meeting my deadlines, and being in denial in the first place that I was getting sick. I think I will stick around or at least peek my head in, from time to time to see how everyone is doing.

Wow, deep stuff. Keep ya head up is all I have to say. It's not our fault...we were born with it. As black people we can handle pain, so we can't stop it this disease. Just think...in God's kingdom sickle cell will be gone. It's only a temporary pain.

Hey Novella, I think we are prone to get on ourselves a lot. It's hard to remember that you are not to blame when something goes wrong with work, school or life due to your illness. I read this book that talks about the emotional burdens that each medical malady brought with it...and the only thing that was listed under sickle cell was "Self Hatred". This can of course lead to so many other things like depression, suicide etc. just know that you are not alone, and that we are all here to support each other. This is a great group of people, and we are all in this struggle together. If you ever need a little encouragement or just want to vent, hit me up, call me, text me...I'm here for you.

I mos def know that feeling, got it a lot when i was in grad school and would miss up to 2 weeks of school, but like i was telling my sister today, you cannot think about it that way, only worry about your health in getting well and everything else will fall in place and always find a way to work themselves out, NEVER blame for self for your pain. stay strong and God bless
