We still Hope

My Brother has sickle cell and he is also a heroin ADDICT

I AM SO HURT MY BROTHER 43 HAS SC AND HE SNORTS HEROIN JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY. HE SMOKES CIGARETTES BECAUSE OF THE HEROIN. AND IM AFRAID THAT HE FEELS HE WILL DIE AT THE LIFE EXPECTANCY AGE IN HIS 40"S ANYWAY- I WISH I KNEW HOW HE FELT ABOUT THAT. IS THERE ANYONE THAT HAS OR KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT TURNED TO HEROIN BECAUSE OF THEIR ADDICTION TO PAIN MEDS?

Comment by KMO on February 24, 2010 at 9:01pm: Thanks. I find it hard to see him delivered because he has been given opiates for pain from his Doctor every since he was 11 and he's now 43, and we all know heroin is an opiate.

I do know that some people are more genetically prone to be addicted to substances, and perhaps your brother unfortunately fell into this dilemma. It must be quite sad and frustrating for you to watch him go through this. Addiction is a very powerful thing, and a drug like heroin...well it is one of those that is hard to break the habit. I wish I could give you some advice, but the only thing that I can say is that we will keep your brother in our thoughts, hearts and prayers. Hopefully God will intercede on his behalf and show him the way out of the quagmire.
