Hi Brianna,

Some things i do that helps before it gets bad is of course the water, also the deep breathing. I try to really focus on the relaxing when i do the deep breathing. Also rubbing the area or getting someone to rub it for you. Heating pads helps as well. Also, making sure my body is as comfortable as possible. I take off any clothes that might be tight like a bra or pants. Hot showers help as well. And last but not least prayer!

Thanks Pam, any kind of tips help! hope your doing great, God Bless

Hi Brianna,

I wanted to share some tips with you but Pam covered a lot of the tried and true methods.  I try to drink fluids, nothing cold, so I usually have tea or warm milk or something. I try to get a comfortable position to be in which depends on the location of the pain. I use heating pads or a hot water bottle directly on the area of the most pain. Do something to distract your mind, watch tv, listen to music, go online, anything that usually makes you at ease or happy, no paying bills you know :o) Try to sleep, I know they say u can't sleep while in pain, but trying can relax you. While relaxing say your prayers, do what you can not to cry, I know its hard but it further dehydrates you and may result in a head ache which only makes it worse. I hope this helps you.

Thanks Stephanie for your help. will deff try this! hope your doing well, God Bless!

also try soaking in hot water with some epson salt

Heating pads, Distraction by listening to music... Those are the 2 things I do and they really help. Hope it helps you as well. Sometimes I'll avoid saying I'm in pain because the mind can definitely be a powerful tool in that.

its a trick i was taught when i was goin through pediatrics you think of a time & place you felt your safest and happiest.  It comes with practice I must say...can't do it unless you really concentrate and control breathing but its best that i medicate when i feel a crisis coming on.  Its hard when your in full blown crisis at er level. I hope it helps!! Ya gotta learn to listen to your body and I'm learning everyday not to ignore and listen to my head.

I try and remain calm and pray, listening to music is also good...you can also have a loved one around to gist with you it helps awful lots.
