We still Hope

Hi Tamekia,
I have not gone through what you have, but as someone who lives with scd I tell you no child blames their parent. We just live with it. It is a disease and it has its bad moments and other really bad moments, but as long as you love your child and are there through it all... there is nothing to be sad and depressed about. Their quality of life has to do with you, you make it great or you don't. So just love your kids and dont make it seem that they cant do it all, because they can.
I am not a parent yet, but yes thats all you can do, let go and let God. I am speaking from the scd side of things, and it sux it really does, and I also know its never easy for loved ones to see you in pain, but just know the life you build for your babies is about the days they are not sick and that is more important to them. You will be great, just love them.
Hello Tamekia,
Congratulations on the birth of your twins. You are blessed and so are both of your twins. As your physicians will soon tell you they can cure infants with a bone marrow transplant. If this does not apply to your baby, don't lose hope.
Congrats on your twins Tameka, its blessing to have delivered safely because many don't even make it. Just try to take one day at a time and focus on the positive to keep your mind off that sad feeling. God bless
Hi Tamekia, I also have scd. Growing up my parents kept my scd secret from everyone. I'm not really sure why. Based on this, I suggest you talk about it like you would anything else with your child, family and friends. SCD is nothing to be scared or ashmed of and once people know about it is easier for them to understand. There will be hard times, but the majority of the time your child will be fine and you won't even realise they have scd.
