I've had nights in the hospital where the pain could only be managed by large doses of opiods. Those doses, after a certain point spawned hallucinations (or waking nightmares.) I'd 'see' things in the space around me, small spheres like dots, and moving indiscernible figures. More often than not it'd be in a light sleep, barely dozing off and it'd feel violent in nature, it'd feel as if I was being attacked and would wake up startled ('oh shi**' was my most common phrase). I knew it was the medication, so no the psyche effects were minimal. Still, I hate opioids.

My method of coping was acknowledging that, it would eventually pass, and I'd be able to get back to normalized life once I got out of the hospital.

I try not to txt or talk on my cell bcuz I never know what may be said....once I thought that the hospital was holding me hostage so i kept trying to find ways to escape!!!  If I do hallucinate I dnt remember unless someone is around to tell me what i said or did once I am coherent I dnt remember a thing.

I have never had such an experience so hearing that people hallucinate while they are taking medications is new to me. When i do take my meds ( for pain) i tend to say my true feelings towards people that i wouldn't normally say.

i definitely can.I have chronic stomach and chest pain that has been going on for a couple of years.The doctors put me on hydrocodone. because it got so bad.When they first started me on it,i did have a couple of hallucinations  because of how strong the medicine was.Plus i am just a teen (15)

A few years ago my mom asked me while in the hospital " So how was the tour with lil Bow Wow" Im like what ma? Apparently I told her I was going on tour with him, while I was under my pain meds. My Bestfreind saves all of the crazy text and conversations I dont remember having with er. So embarrassing : ( Yet Funny nonetheless

I went sky diving with bernie mac once, lol. If I am on the phone when the nurse walks in with meds I hang up. Chances are I end up saying weird things.

LOL haha for some reason i always hallucinate that i am some kind of spy like james bond and my nurses are all evil spies that are against me and out to get me and i remember one time i thought that one of the nurses was a mole and was helping against the other nurses...always messes with my head...Dilaudid is a hell of a drug..smh

The only hallucination I was ever told about was when I was in the hospital last year around this time. My mom said that I was screaming "Dad!" over and over like I was calling for my fathers attention, then I was talking about how we couldn't go to get ice cream and things like that. But she said that I was screaming so loud that she and my nurse had to close the door to the room. And that they kept, telling me to be quiet. 

 

Another time, I don't remember who was with me, but I do remember telling them that I had to go home because the cartoons were on and I didn't want to miss them. I also remember crying because this person told me I had to stay. 

It seems that if I do hallucinate, I revert to a younger self.
