We still Hope
Hey everyone,
It's been ages since i was here(last post was in 2011)...I stopped using my yahoo id for a while and i guess life happened...but I'm happy to be back...A lot has happened since my last post,lol...Got married, pregnant then had the most beautiful baby girl ever...
On pregnancy, I prayed against morning sickness, because that would cause dehydration and dehydration will lead to a crisis (we know the drill,lol)...and guess what? for 37 weeks, i had no morning sickness, nausea and other pregnancy related symptons..Thank God...that said, the last few months were TOUGH!!! Crisis became more frequent as the baby grew, and INTENSE....whew! I cried and cried and prayed my baby was fine, through all the drugs n all..and in december, the 27th to be precise, i had a CS ( my doctors were happy to go, once we hit 37weeks), acute chest syndrome came right after, i was hosptalised, didnt lactate as i should have, but God kept me still, I 'm happy...she's a little over 9months old now, and I am thankful...scared of motherhood...and the pressure to always be available for my baby, despite having sickle cell anemia, but thankful still...
Here's my take on sickle cell and character formation....sickle cell strengthens you, show me someone with sickle cell and i will show you a very strong n resilient person...Life is hard, but if we can pull through those crazy episodes of intense physical pain, i think our chances of getting through life 'unfazed' increases...Character is formed in distress, pain makes us resilient...our approach to issues is 'how bad can it get?'....life only gets better..cheers to all sickle cell warriors out there..no one gets us but we get us!!!x
