- How has living with sickle cell made an impact on your life?
- Living with Sickle Cell Disease has been a struggle. Since I was a child I remember being sick all the time and not knowing why. I couldn't pursue the career I sought out because of SCD. I'm constantly getting blood transfusions or in the hospital with an infection or something. I had hard pregnancies due to SCD, all 3 of my children have Sickle Cell Trait because of me. Its hard to be "mommy" because of pain and fatigue but I have to keep on pushing because I want my boys to know that I am strong and Sickle Cell does not stop me!
