How has living with sickle cell made an impact on your life?

pretty much completely debilitated me for many years of my life. caused tremendous pain and suffering as well as becoming accustomed to being alone and without support during frequent extended hospital stays. At the same time I believe its given me many moments of clarity and reflection as well as the time to better myself intellectually.

What are you hoping to gain by joining the site?

the ability to talk with and maybe meet others for support, friendship and sharing experiences. also to offer my experience and support, and maybe some comforting words to others.
