We still Hope

Hello Shenna,
My name is Damali and I have a 17 year old daughter who has beta plus thal and I am also a carrier of the same gene. As far as what to expect everyone is different because I had my first crisis at four and that's when my mother found out I had sickle cell. My triggers for crisis were change in weather, stress, exhaustion, and dehydration. However, my daughter did not start having crisis until the age of 8 or 9 because from the time she was born until the age of 5 she was given daily doses of penicillin to keep her scd at bay and it really helped, the only thing she dealt with as a baby was high fevers, never no crisis or anything like that until she was 9. Since then she only has a crisis once a year or every two years in January or either may and so far she hasn't been sick since 2010. But everyone is different so I would stress that you get your doctor to prescribe penicillin for him/her to take until the age of five.
You should try chloryphll and wheatgrass juice every day. A squeeze of chloryphll and a teaspoon of wheatgrass powder mixed in water a few times per day. Also soy milk.
Chloryphll is almost exactlly like blood only it does not contain iron. Wheatgrass is also high in chyloryphll the combo is best. Soymilk makes the veins like teflon and helps to keep the blood from sticking together. Also a vegetarian diet is best no artery cloggging meats and fats. My child has SC disease and gets pain every once in a while but even though she has pain her oxygen levels are good her iron is good and she has never been hopitalized. When she has pain it my last two days and its over.
