My son was newly diagnoses with HBSS 5 months ago and has had sequestration crises twice. asides that he lives a normal life like his sister but I am in constant fear that sickle cell might mean a death sentence or having a short life. can a sickle cell patient like a normal life with minimum pain

Hello Funmi, welcome to the community. sorry to hear about your son having a few crisis, I hope he is doing better now. There are many of us here that live a close to 'normal' life here, we just have to be careful in our day to day activities, making sure to drink enough water, etc. I would recommend seeing an hematologist to help monitor his health.
