Medical Professionals with Sickle Cell?

Hi Friends,

Just wondering if any folks on here are nurses, nurse practitioner, PAs, doctors etc and have sickle cell. A friend of my who has ss is pursuing a career in medicine.

I think it's great, nurses have a special place in my heart. In addition to applauding you all wanted to hear your experiences. Do you have patients with ss etc?

Hi. I have sickle cell and I did my PhD in molecular biology researching gene therapy for sickle cell. Prior to that, I did clinical research at the Sickle Cell Center at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. It was tough working with the kids with sickle cell because some of them were in bad shape. So that's why I switched to doing lab research rather than clinical research with patients.
