knees cracking = possible lack of vitiman D?

I was wondering if having sickle cell means issues with calcuim in the body. My knee cracks when I walk and my lower left foot hurts when I walk, I'm 5'11 180 and I'm 38 so I was wondering whats the issue. The doctor said I have high enymes in my liver but that's becuase I work out and drink protein shakes, I'm not a heavy drinker so I'm seeking any advice.

Mike, bone health is a real issue for with people with sickle cell. The lack of oxygen in our blood affects our bone health. We must do whatever we can to strengthen our bones. I was reading something from Mayo Clinic yesterday about bone health and vitimin D. I have Avascular Necrosis in both hips and I fight bone loss by increasing calcuim along with other various vitimins/minerials....including vitimin D.

There is so much information about bone health and liver health.......educate yourself.

We CAN delay some of the complications that sickle cell causes as we age. Doctor's wanted to do a double hip replacement on me years ago.......it's 2012 and I still have my hips!!!! I'm fighting sickle cell with knowledge. God bless you!

I have the trait so I don't have the severe one and I've never had to worry about hip replacement and I'm 38. I did order some vitiman d pills as well as some liver pills so I'm trying to make sure I'm in good condition.
