We still Hope

Is there any assistance for us living with sickle cell?

Any benefits we can apply for? My insurance is too expensive and I was wondering if we're able to receive any assistance in this matter? maybe cheaper insurance or free check ups or something of that matter.

Finically it is hard, I was able to get SSI but it took 21 years I was denied 3 times but my mom helped me get legal advice and I won. I think it was because I have more than just SCD and the Gov. now considers me disabled. They did take a small fee but I have now have SSI and Medicare that pays my health insurance, because I am working I do pay a small very fee every month and a very small fee for my meds I am grateful that I have it because without it I would not be able to work and would still be in and out of the hospital monthly. But I wish there was other programs out there to help for heath and school.

I actually work donor would be hard for me to get it and when I tried twice they told me if my arms and legs work I won't be able to receive it. I'm in Florida.
