I am excited to share the good news with you all, my 6 year old daughter got a bone marrow transplant on 24th  May 2012 and it was a success. Her big brother was the donor and he matched her 100%. We are so proud of him because he had to go through a lot himself while busy with studies. Don't get me wrong it is the most difficult treatment anyone could endure let alone a child.

She went through all the complications as stated in the text books but she fought through it all.  She talks a lot about her painful experiences during the treatment at the same time she also feels blessed to have  got the treatment and needs not worry about her health and aches anymore. We stood together as a family and just treated her. Her brothers were by her side each she spent in the hospital.

I could write a book about our experiences.  With God at our side we feel we have travelled far now.  She is soon going back to school.  We wish many more children could be offered this precious treatment, I would recommend this treatment for people that suffer daily with crisis'. In my daughters case it was her only chance of survival.  We are here to share our experiences with anyone out there that is about to undergo the same treatment. Having a little support from someone that has experienced it first hand could make it a little easier.  Stay well and God bless!

Thanks Shukura!

Thats great that your child made it through BMT with a success. I am so happy for you all. What a releife. I am thinking of BMT for my child who is 2. He does not have any siblings yet.. he is our first and only child.. we are planning to go through PGD with HLA matching to try and conceive with a healthy matched sibling.. Iwould like to know in details how the whole procedure was like.. how did she cope with or tolerate the chemo and radiation. Which hospital did you go to.. and how long was it.

Thank you so much for your message.  I will be

glad to share my experiences with you at length.  If you could send me your email address then I will send you a detailed letter through there.  Take care and I wish you all the best with your little one.

Please write a book or speak on blogs. We need to hear the stem cell treatment success stories because we haven't gotten the whole story.

Check-out www.sickle-ourvoice.blogspot.com and email me if you wanna tell your story.
