We still Hope
I have been having weird chest pains starting a few months after my new exchange port was put in, around a year ago. The pain was very mild and only happen if I over did it, sneezed hard, had a cough or trouble breathing. It’s about the middle of my chest and ribs right around the sternum. I have had an EKG and x-rays but nothing explains the pain getting worse and more frequent. I thought it could have been bad placement with my port but that does not seem to be the case either. It has been so persistence now I can’t get the pain to go away at all. The doctor called it something kind of like growing pains and it happens to a lot of people between teens and young adults. I’m 25 almost 26 and stopped growing at 18 and the pain had been getting worse fast. I have trouble turning to the right or left without pain, lying on either of my side, expanding or closing in my chest. The pain is a constant dull until I do one of those motions which are a lot. Then the pain gets sharp and stabbing. Sometimes I even get a tight feeling in my throat and it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest and it gets hard to breath. By that time I know to just calm down and take nice slow deep breaths until whatever is happening stops which can take up to 30 -60 minutes. It’s a scary feeling but there does not seem to be anything the doctors can do. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of situation that cannot be explained? I have been told to take Advil, Ibprofen and Tylenol none have helped in the slightest. I have pain killers but I don’t like to take them for this issue I think it can make it worse I feel it does. I’m getting nerves and don’t know what to do any more.
