Is there any assistance for us living with sickle cell?

Any benefits we can apply for? My insurance is too expensive and I was wondering if we're able to receive any assistance in this matter? maybe cheaper insurance or free check ups or something of that matter.

I was able to get on disability for a while, although I dont plan to be on it the rest of my life it is helping out for now.

Well i dont know much about insurance but i do know if you have sickle cell disease then you should be getting Medicaid. Im always in and out of hospitals and i dnt have to pay even with most of my meds they never cost more than 5bucks.

You can apply for disability. The US govt. recognizes SCD as a disability.

To get disability you can't make more then $1000 a month. To get Medicaid you have to drop your insurance or atleast let them know they're dropping u lets just say at the end of the month.

Depending on your condition, I would NOT apply for Medicare or disability.  

I was on disability and then told years later to pay the money back because I "no longer qualified" as if Sickle Cell goes away.

I no longer get income tax returns because the government takes them and they have completely ruined my credit.

Yea that;s weird i got on ssi and i;ve been on it for 4 yrs so far but i have more then SCD. have you tried getting free legal advice?

Asia that sucks , is there anything they can do? If they approved it why should you have to pay it back ?
