Hello everyone!
My fiancé has type SS sickle cell and lately hasn't been doing too great :(
He has been taking Dilaudid but only 2 mg tablets. They work okay but he
has to take many to have any affect. We were wondering if anyone has suggestions
for pain meds that have worked for you? He obviously has tried many, oxy and what not.
We are just looking for some feedback. His doctor recently put him on Suboxone
but he stopped taking it because it was making him vomit and very sick. Has anyone used
Suboxone for pain management before?
We will really appreciate all feedback we get! And we wish good health to all!!

hey Nora, he is probably building up a tolerance for it, so he needs to take more to get relief. i take Dilaudid as well, but only seldomly when the pain is a lot and percocet doesn't work. i have both 2mg and 4 mg, i would suggest he asks hes doctor for 4mg if the 2 isn't cutting it anymore. i never took suboxone or heard of it.

I've only taken Dilaudid intravenously but Vicodin works well for me.  I also like Tylenol #3 for mild pain but it makes me itch and my stomach gets upset.  I also found that long hot sit down showers help tremendously with mild pain.  I've never heard of suboxone either, I hope this helps!

Hi Nora, praying for your fiance's wellness. You might want to try herbal remedies too (less destructive to your body). Just go to places like www.medicinehouse.com and read some of the handbooks on pain treatments, meds, etc. This doctor knows a lot about pain.

We MUST be informed. Doctor's come & go, but we have to protect our health (bodies). Get wise & ask questions....some of these meds will do harm in the long-term.

We also have to pace ourselves when taking meds AND find alternatives that help us too. Heat, massage therapy, water therapy (whatever). The internet is full of info.

ps.  I use herbs whenever I can (Native American's & Chinese have used herbs for centuries).

in addition to natural remedies, i recently discovered soaking in a Epsom salt bath helps to relieve minor aches if you want to give that a try as well

Hi everyone. I have not taken Suboxone. But I would like to highlight one woman's journey to find sickle cell pain relief in other ways. We must finds ways to prolong our lives here's her way.
