Has your daughter had her Vitamin D levels checked? Vitamin D deficiency can cause chronic pain. My daughter had a similar experience and did not receive any relief until she was fortunate enough to be evaluated by a very wise and thorough internist. This was after having been seen by two hematologists, a rheumatologist and a chiropractor; neither of which could give her any medication to provide adequate pain relief. Her lab results showed that her Vitamin D levels were extremely low. I would suggest that you do an internet search on Vitamin D and sickle cell pain which will provide you with a wealth of information. If your daughter does show that her Vitamin D levels are low she may be started on a prescription strength to raise the level and maintained on an over the counter dose. Make sure that you purchase Vitamin D3. It is available in different formulations but be aware that some persons become achey when taking the gelcaps. I wish you the best and do hope that your daughter finds some relief.
