Happy to see this sub-group on the site. I am the mother of a 20 month old daughter diagnosed with SS . She has been doing pretty well so far (thank God!) she has had 2 minor incidents of dactylitis which lasted about 2 weeks each but other than that, she is a normal healthy, busy toddler.
I look forward to sharing with and supporting the other parents in this group.
Hallo am father of a two years boy and i thank God for my son and supportive wife and family. As i have been on a wheel chair because of the osteoarthritis of both hips and the fact that its rendering disabled to some extent i see the pain in their eyes although they encourage me in all that i can. Its hard but just handing in there
I am a mother of 3 beautiful boys and I have sickle cell disease none of my kids have the disease I'm very careful in that aspect but it is still very challenging at times.
Dear Monica: What a blessing! Is any of your boys over 18 years of age? We are recruiting participants for a study on sickle cell trait football players, but they have to be adults. If you know anybody who used to play or anyone who is playing and is SCT, please encourage them to join the study at: https://www.facebook.com/sicklecell.carriers
Dear Iysha: What a blessing that your daughter is doing so well! Please, if any of your family's men played football in high school or college (or professional!), please encourage them to join the study on sickle cell trait in football players. https://www.facebook.com/sicklecell.carriers
